Collection & Return
We will arrange the exact times between the hirer and ourselves. Hirers are able to leave their car with us as their car replaces the motorhome. Parking is at the hirers own risk but if it's safe for a motorhome we feel it is generally safe for a car.
We will take whatever time it takes to ensure you are familiar with the operation of the vehicle and each piece of equipment. We will complete all the paperwork with the hirer and complete the handover so you have peace of mind for your journey ahead. If your working to a schedule we recommend you allow 45 minutes for this. We encourage you to ask questions during the handover.
The motorhome return time is by agreement before the hire commences. There may be penalties for late return, beyond the agreed time, as the next hirer may be waiting to take the motorhome on their holiday when you return.
Hire Inventory
All kitchen and eating equipment and some outdoor folding tables and chairs will be provided as part of the main hire. All the hirer needs to bring is bedding, usually bottom sheets, duvets, sleeping bags and towels for washing.
Hire Safety
All our motorhomes are fitted with seatbelts and we encourage the capacity of the motorhome to match the number of seatbelts. It is always the driver's/main hirers responsibility to make sure passengers are safe within a vehicle.
We will give you guidance on children and what you need to do. Children under the age of 12 must be restrained in a suitable car seat until they reach the height of 135 cms. This means baby seats for children weighing up to 13 kgs, child seats for children between 9 - 18 kgs, booster seats for children between 12 - 25 kgs and a booster cushion for children aged 6 and over. The rules are the same as for travelling in cars and they must be belted in at all times whilst travelling for safety.
It is important to note that it is illegal to exceed the gross weight of the vehicle which is the total of the weight of the vehicle, the weight of the passengers and the weight of everything being transported (e.g. bags and luggage). The maximum weight including passengers will be noted to the hirer.
Each vehicle comes with a suitable fire extinguisher. Please remember you must turn off the gas at the bottle before travelling. Each hirer is encouraged to bring their own first aid kit.
Travelling In Europe & Ireland
If you intend to travel to Europe we will ensure that the vehicle is prepared to comply with the appropriate regulations. We will provide beam deflectors for the headlamps, warning triangles, high visibility vests and spare bulb sets.
MGF will arrange for the necessary driving insurance cover and breakdown and roadside assistance cover for your hire. The breakdown cover provides for roadside assistance, a courtesy car, overnight accommodation and repatriation of your party and motorhome if necessary.
If you Breakdown or the Motorhome is Damaged
If an unlikely breakdown occurs roadside assistance will be provided by national breakdown organisations in the UK, Europe and Ireland. We use Green Flag, AA and National Breakdown. As noted on the guidance notes given to the you at the handover stage we insist that MGF Motorhome Hire is contacted as soon as possible for every incident including a puncture. If the motorhome is damaged either internally or externally or something fails then we require you to contact us as soon as possible so that we can arrange the supply of replacement parts or repair. Its important to note that mechanical parts can fail or accidental damage can occur.
